Skyline Essentials Badges
Self-paced professional learning essential for those who are implementing and/or supporting the implementation of Skyline. Courses include how to navigate Skyline, plan and teach lessons and administer assessments using the Skyline digital learning ecosystem. The Navigating, Planning, Teaching, and Assessing 1&2 badges are required for new Skyline adopting teachers. Access Skyline Essential Badges HERE!  

Payment / Credit Hours
Teachers will receive CPDUs for each Skyline Essentials badge completed. As of April 1, 2025, no compensation will be provided for completion of Skyline Essentials badges. Teachers will receive CPDUs for attending PL sessions. Eligibile staff will also be compensated at the non-instructional rate per hour for their attendance at Skyline PL sessions that occur outside of regularly contracted hours. Teachers must be fully contracted and onboarded at the time of the session, attend the full duration of the session, and complete the attendance/exit slip form to receive payment and CPDUs. SS Grade 8, Unit 5 Internalization - Facing History and Ourselves - Choices in Little Rock: An Approach to Teaching the Civil Rights Movement FULL

In 1957, nine black teenagers faced the threats of angry mobs when they attempted to enter Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. The desegregation of Central High School ignited a crisis historian Taylor Branch describes as “the most severe test of the Constitution since the Civil War.” We will examine this key moment in U.S. history and learn new ways to engage students in the issues raised by the American civil rights movement and their implications today.

Who should take the course? Chicago Public School 8th grade social studies and humanities teachers.

Sub bucket number will be provided. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, vegetarian options will be included.
