About me
My name is Citlali Arroyo and I am a CPS alum, dual language early childhood educator, and lifelong northsider. By day, I am a kindergarten teacher in a class full of artists, scientists, and rockstars; other evenings I tutor adult learners in ELA for Oakton College. I proudly hold a B.A. in Sociology (2016) and M.Ed in Early Childhood Education (2020). When I was an undergraduate student at Northeastern Illinois University, I was accepted to the Ronald E. McNair Scholars program. I conducted research in education policy; curriculum and instruction; and culturally relevant pedagogy. These topics are very important to me, as they relate to personal experiences I had as a CPS student. I have presented nationally as well as internationally, and I have experience working for the Institute of Research on Race and Public Policy at the University of Illinois-Chicago. As a graduate student at Boston College, my coursework required me to integrate technology, special education, and multilingual interventions in different classroom models. I was set to begin my student teaching when the pandemic began, which critically informed how I approach student engagement and teacher preparation. In order to use the educational technologies at my disposal, I had to make my content developmentally appropriate. I am confident that all of my training prepared me to be an engaging presenter and I am happy to be of service.
